The Budgeting @ Work training course aims to provide learners with the opportunity to:
• Understand and explain the concept of budgeting in a business unit or business
• Analyse the budgeting needs of a business unit or business
• Present and justify a proposed budget for a business unit or business
• Monitor and control actual expenses and revenue against projected expenses and revenue
Budgeting is an important part of the management planning and control process. Effective budgeting outlines expected performance under prevailing circumstances, so, if actual performance corresponds with budgeted performance, there is reasonable expectation of success.

Learners will be able to:
• Understand the purpose and concept of budgeting
• Understand the difference between strategic and operational budgets
• Relate management planning and control to the budgeting process
• List the advantages of operational budgeting
• Understand the different types of budgets
• Understand the importance of budget planning and how to generate relevant budgets
• Gather relevant data to prepare a budget
• Understand when and how to use a sales budget, a materials budget and an expenditure budget
• Understand the concept of a cash flow and a cash budget
• Understand and know when to use different types of budgeting methods: periodic, rolling, incremental, zero-based, flexible, top-down and bottom-up budgeting
• Develop and document a budget
• Monitor and control actual expenses against budgeted expenses

Learners receive:
