Course Description

WHO SHOULD REGISTER FOR THIS PROGRAMME
People who assess achievement of learning outcomes in terms of specified criteria using pre-designed assessment instruments.

Open Learning Group has already customised the programme to meet the specific requirements of the Health and Education sectors.

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THIS PROGRAMME
Persons credited with this unit standard will be able to conduct assessments within their field of expertise in a fair, valid, reliable and practicable manner that is free from all bias and discrimination, paying particular attention to the three groups targeted for drdress: race, gender and siability. The unit standared will contribute towards the achievement of a variety of qualifications, particularly within the fields of Education, Training and Development Practices and Human Resource Development.

WHAT ARE THE ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS
You need have no previous assessment experience, though it is assumed that you have evaluative expertise within the area of learning in which you intend to assess.

HOW LONG IS THE PROGRAMME
A total of 150 notional hours is allocated to this course comprising of 5 days classroom based training and work-based learning.

IS THE PROGRAMME ACCREDITED
Open Learning Group is an accredited provider of the ETDP SETA. Our learning content for the programme is approved by the SETA.

WHAT UNIT STANDARDS ARE COVERED
This programme comprises of 1 unit standard: US 115753: Conduct outcomes-based assessment, earning you 15 credits.

WHAT DO I GET ON COMPLETION
You will be required to complete various assessments during the course and will complete a Portfolio of Evidence that will be assessed. When you are found competent on all the specific outcomes required, you will be provided with a National Certificate issued by the ETDP SETA.

WHAT WILL BE ASSESSED

• Preparation of assessment resources, logistics, documentation and environment meets the requirements of the assessment at hand and ensures fairness and safety of assessment.
• How to use a variety of assessment methods when conducting assessments in different situations.
• Problem solving ability.
• Practical and technical skills.
• Attitudinal skills and values.
• Inputs are sought regarding special needs and possible sources of evidence that could contribute to valid assessment, including RPL opportunities.
• Assessment policies and ETQA requirements.
• Professional, industry or legislated codes of practice.
• Decisions in awarding of credit, redirecting candidates to further learning or guiding candidates to further application or re-assessment.
• Assessment judgements are consistent with judgements made o similar evidence and are justified by the authenticity, validity, sufficiency and currency of the evidence.
