Course Description

OVERVIEW OF THE QUALIFICATION
Moderation of assessments is a critical function of any quality assurance process. The programme will allow you to moderate the work of assessors to ensure that they have assessed learning that meet the specific outcomes of the unit standards as well as remain unbias. Moderators will also need to ensure that the candidates have been assessed in a fair, valid and reliable manner and without discrimination. The learner will be able to use prescribed Quality Assurance procedures pertaining to the various SETAs and ETQAs.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Previous assessment experience is required when working towards this unit standard and in particular NLRD115753: “Conduct Assessments” and NLRD 115755: “Design and Develop Outcomes-Based Assessments”.

LANGUAGE POLICY
• The language for administrative matters is English.
• Classes are conducted in English.

DURATION OF QUALIFICATION
A total of 100 notional hours is allocated to this course that comprises of 3 days classroom based training and work-based learning.

A schedule is available for courses planned in Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town.

ACCREDITATION AND UNIT STANDARDS
Open Learning Group is an accredited provider of the ETDP SETA. Our learning content for the programme has been evaluated an approved by the SETA and similarly learners will be provided with a Statement of Results issued by the SETA and a nationally recognised certificate upon which the ETDP SETA logo is displayed.

The programme comprises of 1 unit standard that has recently been updated, namely US 115759: Conduct Moderation of Outcomes-Based Assessment.

ON COMPLETION OF THE COURSE YOU WILL BE ABLE TO:
• Demonstrate an understanding of moderation within the context of an outcomes-based assessment system.
• Plan and prepare for moderation
• Conduct moderation
• Advise and support Assessors
• Report, record and administer moderation
• Review moderation systems and processes

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR REGISTRATION
For registration on this programme you must complete and sign an Open Learning Group Registration Form and submit this to our Head Office. Please note that you will only be registered once your venue has been confirmed and your payment received.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
Financial assistance is available to you through our partner organisation, Eduloan.

ASSESSMENT
You will be required to complete a Portfolio of Evidence for assessment purposes. The Portfolios will be moderated by and Open Learning Group moderator and annually by an external moderator appointed by the ETDP SETA.

CERTIFICATION
After successfully being found competent by our assessors and moderators you will receive a Statement of Result issued by the ETDP SETA which confirms that your details have been uploaded to the National Learner Record Database (NLRD). As soon as your Statement of Results is available, your certificate will be printed bearing the ETDP SETA logo and then sent to you.
