TARGET GROUPS: Principles and practices for non-project managers; Those running own business, recognizing that project management forms an integral component of any business; Those beginning to operate in a project environment by understanding the terminology used and interpreting / explaining fundamental project management concepts.

• Do you differentiate easily between the different project management structures, responsibilities, stakeholders, and hierarchies?
• Can you successfully create a work breakdown structure?

When we talk about application we think along the lines of processes, general management, project management, and team members. There are a variety of different types of structures, which are all covered in the program.
The aim of this program is to empower individuals with practical skills related to key activities, supplementary management, planning and controlling, and consequences.

• Understand the nature of a project.
• Understand the nature and application of project management.
• Identify the types of structures that are found in a project environment.
• Apply organisational structures in a project environment.

Session 1: Nature
Topics that will be covered
• The characteristics of a project
• Differences between project and non-project work
• A basic project life cycle
• The reasons for undertaking projects
• A range of types of projects and their complexity

Session 2: Application
Topics that will be covered
• Project management according to recognised published standards
• The major project management processes
• The differences between project management and general management
• The difference between project management processes and technical processes
• The difference between a project team member and the project manager

Session 3: Structures
Topics that will be covered
• Defining structures - WBS
• The concept of programme and project hierarchies
• Decomposing a project
• The concepts of breakdown structures for product, work and cost
• The basic differences between a matrix and functional organisation
• Roles, responsibilities and reporting lines, progress and communication reporting, authority hierarchy, decision-making accountability
• Stakeholders

Session 4: Processes
Topics that will be covered
• Initiation, planning, controlling, monitoring, execution, implementing, closing, evaluating
• Scope, risk, quality, communications, schedule, cost, change control, resource, stakeholder and procurement management.

Topics are taught using practical demonstrations so as to ensure that in completion of the workshop delegates have developed first-rate practical skills that are sufficient to apply at any working environment and be productive from day one after training.

• Delegate substitutions are welcome at any time. Please notify Æther in writing of any changes.
• A Company Tax Invoice will be raised and e-mailed to the above contact details. Reservations are secure only upon payment thereof, or submission of a duly authorized Government Requisition.
• No shows on the day of training will be charged 100% of the course price. A substitute delegate is welcome at no extra cost.
• You may cancel your registration, in writing, up to 10 working days before the course takes place, incurring a 10% administration cost. Cancellations made inside of the 10 days will be liable for the full fee.
• Please do not make travel arrangements or put in for leave until confirmation is received that the course will run.
